Caravan awnings come in different shapes and sizes so there are a few things to consider when buying the right one.
An awning is a great way of extending your living space. It can be use for storage such as bikes, garden chairs etc or it can be used as an extra sleeping area or for dining. On those rainy days it is useful to have a sheltered area to take off muddy shoes before walking into the caravan.
If you get regular use out of your caravan and need an awning for extra space all year round then go for a more expensive one with strong thick fabric that will stand up to all sorts of weather conditions. Some have UV protection and are water resistant.
How big do you need your awning? You can get porch awnings which are about half the size of your caravan but ideal for storing bikes and chairs etc. A full length awning (whole length of your caravan) gives you a fantastic space to use. If you have a large family and need extra sleeping areas or extra dining space then this is the one to go for.
If you measure from the ground at A follow the track on your caravan (red line on the diagram) to the other side down to the ground to B. This will give you the size of awning needed, which an awning supplier can then use to give you the correct awning for your caravan.

If you have bought an awning separately from your caravan you will need to contact your insurance company and update the insurance cover.
